ABSTRACT
This study evaluatedLand suitability for pepper in Iguzama community in Ovia North Local Government Area, Edo State. Soil survey was carried out by Rigid grid Method at a detailed scale which produced four (4) Mapping units (two mapping units in Sites A and B). Each mapping unit was represented by a pedon, and each pedon was described appropriately; samples were analyzed using the standard procedures. Results of land suitability evaluation showed that all the pedons were not suitable (N1) for Pepper cultivation on current suitability ratings N(topography and fertility characteritics) due to severe limitations in topography and fertility as a result of organic carbon and potential suitability ratings N(topography) due to topography. Thus, the cultivation of pepper in the study area could be profitable after amelioration. It is therefore, recommended that land should be adequately maximize for pepper cultivation after proper amelioration of soil nutrients has been carried out.
