ABSTRACT

This study was designed to examine the knowledge of the importance of health education on immunization to nursing mothers attending postnatal in Ikpoba Okha LGA, Edo State. To guide this study, three research questions were raised. The survey research design was used in conducting the study. The main instrument for the study was a self-structured questionnaire. The population of the study was 50. The validity of the instrument was established by giving it to the supervisor and two other experts in the field of the research study. The reliability of the instrument was established using the split-half method of reliability which yielded a Coefficient of 0.739. The data obtained from the questionnaires were subjected to analysis using frequency counts and percentages. Results from the study from 50 respondents showed that the nursing mothers attending postnatal care in Ikpoba-Okha LGA, Edo State do have knowledge of the importance of health education especially in aspects such as health education helping people to understand what health problems need to be paid attention to daily, health education enabling people to know how to better and timely solve the various new situations in their health as well as health education providing information regarding good habits and hygiene practices.
