The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge of the effects of climate change among Undergraduates of the University of Benin.
The descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The total population of the study is Six thousand, seven hundred and fifty (6750) with a sample size of three hundred and thirty-eight (338). The instrument for data collection was a well-structured questionnaire which was validated by the project supervisor and two other lecturers from the Department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education. The reliability of the instrument was established using the test re-test method and a reliability coefficient of 0.70 was gotten. Collated data was analyzed using descriptive tools such as frequency counts, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
Findings from this study revealed that undergraduates of the University of Benin are knowledgeable of climate change, undergraduates of the University of Benin are knowledgeable of the effects of climate change, undergraduates of the University of Benin have positive attitude towards climate change. It is thus recommended that programs on climate change should be organized to educate the general public, climate change education should be inculcated in school curriculum and organizations should be built for the proper monitoring of energy consumption to curb climate change.
