KNOWLEDGE OF LASSA FEVER AMONG SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT

ABSTRACT

Lassa fever is one of the deadly diseases ravaging Africa, especially Nigeria where the diseases originated. The outbreaks of the disease have been causing mortality and morbidity worldwide. This study investigates the Knowledge of Lassa Fever among Senior Secondary School student in Egor Local Government Area Edo State. The purpose of this study are to find out if the students know what Lassa fever is, find out the mode of transmission of the disease, find out the preventive measure of lassa fever, know if the disease can be treated, and investigate their sources of the information about Lassa fever. The research design was descriptive survey, of which the population comprises all secondary school of Egor Local Government Area with a sample size of 120 using random sampling technique. A five point likert rating scale response of Strongly Agree, Agree, Undecided, Disagree, Strongly Disagree well-structured questionnaire were used as instrument for data collection. Frequency and percentage were used to analyzed the data collected using SPSS 22 version.
