Background:Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic and degenerative joint disease and one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Osteoarthritis presents with modifiable and non-modifiable predisposing factors, and prevention of these modifiable risk factors begins with raising awareness

Aim: This study aimed to assess the knowledge of knee osteoarthritis and the predisposing factors among non-medical undergraduate students of the University of Benin in Edo state, Nigeria

Method:This study is a cross-sectional analytical study. It employed a stratified quota sampling technique. Of the total fifteen faculties in the University of Benin, five were grouped as medical faculties and ten as non-medical faculties. For each of the non-medical faculty, a specific number (quota) of participants were met, collectively making up the total sample size of 384.  But within each faculty, a purposive sampling was employed to administer questionnaire to the participants who met the inclusion criteria and were willing to participate. Data was collected, reviewed and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (IBM SPSS) for windows. Data comparison among faculties was carried out using Kruskal Wallis test and Chi Square test for hypothesis testing. The statistical method employed were two tailed with an alpha level of 0.05 considered significant if the P value was less than or equal to 0.05
