ABSTRACT
Diabetes is undoubtedly one of the most challenging health benefit problem of the 21st century. Diabetics and its complication are major causes of early death in countries. Increased awareness among large young adult population groups is a major determinant for the prevention of diabetes and its complication. Knowledge and attitude are the principal markers of awareness and perception of diabetics among young adult in Benin City. Awareness and perception of diabetics among young adult in Benin City were evaluated using a structured questionnaire. To access the awareness and perception of diabetics among young adult, a questionnaire tagged awareness and perception of diabetics among young adult in Benin City was used to solicit response from the patients. A total of 300 young adult participated of which …. % was male and …. % was female. Majority of the respondents(78.3%) were in the age group of 18-28 and 35 above as evidenced by the study, young adult whom are literate show better awareness and perception of diabetics while those that are non-literate show poor knowledge of the disease.
