ABSTRACT

Type2diabetes is a prevalent disease which this research work is to undergo knowledge and preventive practices of type2diabetes among undergraduates students at the University of Benin, Nigeria. This study delves into the landscape of the behaviors and lifestyle choices of undergraduate students towards the Knowledge and preventive practices of type2diabetes, aiming to uncover the extent of it knowledge, preventive practices and the Risk factors influencing it. Through a descriptive statistical research design involving 206 students from diverse faculties, data was collected using a structured questionnaire to assess various aspects of type2diabetes on it knowledge, preventive practices and it Risk factors . Analysis utilizing descriptive statistics revealed a high level of knowledge on type2diabetes, it risk factors and it preventive practices among the student population, particularly among those in later years of study.

The study identified various risk factors on type2diabetes , such as physical inactivity, Excessive intake of fatty foods, Excessive intake of sugary foods and drinks, overweight or obesity, Age Factors, sleep quality and quantity, heavy Alcohol consumption and socio economic status. Recommendations stemming from the findings emphasize the importance of promoting type2diabetes knowledge and preventive  practices and enhancing health literacy among undergraduate students.

By shedding light on the prevalence and determinant of type2diabetes , this research contributes valuable insights to the existing literature and underscores the significance of informed decision-making in healthcare management within university settings.
