ABSTRACT
The study examined the knowledge and practice of family planning by women of child bearing age (15 – 49 years) in Ughelli North L.G.A, of Delta State. Literature was reviewed by the researcher on similar topic from textbooks, journals, internet. A total of 150 participants were selected using clusters sampling technique method. Five (5) research questions were raised to elicit response from respondents and the tools used was structured questionnaire. A 22 items were used as instrument of data collection which were validated by the researcher’s supervisors and other four health education experts. Data collected were put in tables and analyzed, using single percentage. The major findings shows that the level of knowledge of family planning has no effect on the practice of family planning. Based on this findings, it is recommended that health education should be created to the grass root and to involve husbands . Also family planning should be accessible and affordable to the women of child bearing age (15 – 49 years). And cultural valued should be addressed.
