ABSTRACT
This objective of this project is to find out the knowledge and perceived health implication of pelvic inflammatory disease among female undergraduate health education students in the department of Health, Safety and Environmental Education, faculty of Education, university of Benin. A survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of this study consist of all the female Health Education students in the department of Health, Safety and Environmental education (HSE), faculty of Education, university of Benin. The multistage sampling technique was used. The sample size for the study is one hundred and sixty two (162) respondents. Frequency count, mean and percentages were used in analyzing the data obtained from the respondents. It is therefore concluded that the knowledge of Pelvic inflammatory disease among female undergraduate health education students in the department of health, safety and environmental education, faculty of education, university of Benin is high and the perceived health implications are ectopic pregnancy, chronic pelvic pain and infertility. It is recommended that schools should develop more targeted educational interventions aimed at improving knowledge of PID among students and there should be collaborations with healthcare professionals, such as gynecologist and reproductive health specialists. This can greatly help to enhance the effectiveness of educational interventions. These professionals can provide expert insights, answer questions, and offer guidance on how to effectively communicate information about pelvic inflammatory disease to others.
