The method of data collection was drawn through the aid of questionnaire. 142 copies of the questionnaire were produced and distributed to the sampled population by the researcher. The population of study consists of male and female students in the University of Benin, Benin City. A Sample size of hundred and forty-two (142) questionnaire was drawn purposively from the population. Survey research design and simple percentage method of analysis was used for the data analysis. Based on the findings the study made the following conclusion that Sexual violence is a terrible crime against humanity and its effects could be overwhelming if not properly handled. It is therefore important to mention that people deal with sexual violence differently but at the end of the day, how they are able to successfully or unsuccessfully handle it depends on how knowledgeable they are about it. Based on the findings the study therefore made the recommendations that People should be taught decent dressing as the researcher has clearly stated that indecent dressing can put a lady at risk of being violated sexually. Although many people seem to be aware of the psychological influence of sexual violence, there are also those who don't know about it or they know of little about it. It is therefore recommended that awareness programs be put in place to enlighten people on issues like this. Drug use should be emphasized both in secondary and tertiary institutions. Counselling sessions in schools should be implemented and made effective so as to help those who have already fallen victims of this situation.
