The purpose of this research study was to investigate the knowledge and awareness of multifocal contact lenses among Optometry students of the University of Benin. Online self-administered questionnaire was given to the students. The questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge and   awareness of multifocal contact lenses. Awareness was assessed as “having heard of multifocal contact lenses” while knowledge was assessed as “having some understanding of multifocal contact lenses”. The result of the study showed that 69.40% of the students had heard of multifocal contact lenses, while 30.60% had not heard of multifocal contact lenses. 62.60% of the students had good knowledge and 37.80% had poor knowledge of multifocal contact lenses. There was increase in knowledge and awareness of multifocal contact lenses as the students progressed through the program with the 600level students having the best knowledge (72.79%). Most of the clinical students knew that multifocal contact lenses have concentric rings and are indicated in presbyopia and myopia management while most of the non-clinical students had no such knowledge.
