ABSTRACT
The study examined the knowledge and attitude of nursing mothers in Ovia north east local government area of Edo state towards children immunization. In order to carry out this study, five research questions were raised to guide the study.
The descriptive research design method was used for this study. The population of the study consisted of all the nursing mothers in primary health care, government hospital and missionary hospital. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 117 respondents out of the population. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. The instrument was validated by experts in Test and Measurement. Crombach Alpha reliability technique was used for testing the reliability of the instrument and reliability index of .72 was realized, hence the instrument was regard as being reliable. Data from completed questionnaires was subjected to percentage analysis.
The finding of the study showed and concludes that there is significant relationship between knowledge and attitude of nursing mothers in Ovia north east local government area of Edo state towards children immunization. The study recommended that The Federal Government should work out plan for more regular availability of vaccines, materials and equipment in Ovia Local Government Area of Edo State and other areas to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the immunization services and activities in this area. All aspects of immunization should be free, including the cost of syringes and needles in health facilities, and efforts should be made to discourage health workers via prosecution who extort during immunization services.
