ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitude of nurses towards information disclosure and its impact on nursing practice in University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Edo State. The study adopted a descriptive survey design using purposive sampling technique. It sampled Two Hundred and Seventy-Three (273) registered nurses working in the health facility. A wellstructured questionnaire was used as instruments of data collection. The data analysis for the objectives as well as the research hypothesis was carried out using the IBM Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.0 for windows. The level of significance was set at p<0.05. The result shows that majority of the nurses have a good knowledge of information disclosure. It also shows that majority of the nurses have a good knowledge that information disclosure in nursing practice and how it significantly impact on nurses. The study therefore recommends that government and multinational agencies should make concerted efforts to ensure that nurses have a solid understanding of the legal and ethical principles governing information disclosure and the nurses should familiarize themselves with the constitution, the Patients’ Bill of Rights, and the Code of Ethics for Nurses and Midwives.
