ABSTRACT
The study made use of the survey research method using a questionnaire as its instrument of data of collection. The goal of the study is to analyse journalists’ perception of the influence of media ownership on journalistic autonomy in Edo state, a case study of ITV/RADIO, Benin. The main goal of the study is to determine the observation of journalists on the influence media ownership has on journalistic autonomy. It also intends to ascertain the relationship between media ownership and journalistic freedom (positive or negative). In a similar vein, it aspires to evaluate the perception of journalists on the impact of media ownership on news content. The literature review examines previous works that prove that media ownership harms journalistic autonomy, thereby hindering professionalism. The study made use of the Media Ownership Theory which rests on the assumption that ownership of media organisations has a significant impact on the content and practices of journalism.
