ABSTRACT

Job’s travails is a musical play adapted for stage by the researcher from the popular story of Job from the Holy Bible, the book of Job. The adaptation involves the process of creatively re-telling the story of job in a script produced by the researcher in a manner which involves mostly strong dialogues, emotive choral singing with basically live musical instrument accompaniment, and choreography. The production made a huge contribution to the society at large as it preaches a message of hope and restoration ,through proper representation of major ethnic groups i the country Nigeria.Recommendations were made that Nigerian playwrights and organized private sector should embark on and encourage the production of musical scripts for stage, especially, as such scripts are comparatively fewer in circulation and it is an effective means of storytelling.
