ABSTRACT
This research investigates the extents in which estate firms are being involved in off- plan development, the challenges and drivers of off- plan development business in Lagos State. The study examines the challenges facing off-plan development in Lagos with a view to identify the factors and suggesting ways of carrying out successful project. This research adopts the research survey design using a questionnaire as the means of primary data collection. This study, thus, relied on a combination of a systematic identification and review of literature and questionnaire survey of 118 was administered to real estate valuers in a Lagos, this was analyzed using descriptive statistics. This finding reveals that firms are specialized into more of Agency, Valuation, Property development, Property management, Facility management and Property documentation. The engagement of firms into off-plan development is average which suggest that firms should engage into off-plan development such as conduct market research on off-plan opportunities, set up specific targets for off-plan properties, hired or trained staff with expertise in property development, conducted due diligence on legal and regulatory aspects of off-plan buying, Developed a dedicated department or team for off-plan transaction.
