ABSTRACT
The antioxidant activity of Picralima nitida has been utilized in diverse forms in the management of diabetes and other ailments. Research has shown that the plant extracts are generally considered safe and effective in the management of diabetes, as a febrifuge, as well as many other medicinal uses. The present study was designed to investigate the in vitro antioxidant activity of raw unripe peel and pulp of ‘Osu’ fruit (P.nitida). P.nitida pulp was dried to a constant weight at room temperature and the dried powdered pulp was soaked for 72hrs in water with constant stirring the aqueous extract was freeze dried and the lyophilized extract was used to determine the antioxidant activity.
