ABSTRACT
This study was designed to evaluate enzymatic antioxidant activities among bronze casters, environmentally exposed and control groups. It sought to determine SOD, GPX, CAT and GRx activities in these workers. The analysis of data obtained from the administered questionnaire as seen in chapter 4, shows that both bronze casters, environmentally exposed and control groups used in this study were age/sex matched. This eliminates any potential confounding variable /effects from this study on age/sex. This was intentional because comparing male to male in biomedical sciences is easy because of similar physiological state. Also, in terms of exposure to bronze casting materials (sand, metals, etc.) the control group participants selected were not in any way exposed both in their chosen profession and home environment. This makes it possible for results obtained in the test group to be attributable to the job (foundry work).
