ABSTRACT
This study is an Investigation into the Use of Social Interactive Platforms for Learning English during COVID- 19 era (A case study of department of educational foundations, Faculty of Education).
A descriptive survey was employed in this study. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The target population consist of four hundred and one (401) students in department of educational foundations using the simple random sampling technique A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Educational Foundations, while the test- re test reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation.
The study reveals that Social interactive platform such as Zoom, Facebook, and Twitter was not used to receive lectures during the Covid-19 pandemic, the most preferred online platform to receive lectures by the students are WhatsApp and Telegram.It was recommended amongst others that Lecturers should make use of other social interactive platforms such as Zoom and Facebook, in other not to depend on only WhatsApp; Lecturers should give detailed notes when using social interactive platforms like WhatsApp and telegram.
