The 2D Electrical resistivity imaging method was used to investigate for laterites deposits in Abudu, Edo state. Wenner alpha array was employed in the electrode configuration. Twelve transverses were taken in the Abudu area of Edo state, and the resistivity values obtained from these transverses were interpreted to yield resistivity images of the earth’s subsurface. The equipment used to take the resistivity values was the PASI earth resistivity meter, the acquired data was interpreted using Res2D INV software.
From the results obtained from the investigation, Tranverses 1 and 5 were found to have show presence of laterite deposits and at a depth of 2.5 meters respectively, with traces of laterite soil deposits that could also be seen at a depth of 2.5 meters.
Thus, the location was found to be rich in laterite and laterite soil deposits.
