ABSTRACT
The study examined the extent of ict use in teaching chemistry in secondary schools in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo state. Also of interest in this work was to establish the theoretical framework of the study, it investigated chemistry in secondary schools in Nigeria, sought to find out factors influencing students academic performance in chemistry, examined instructional media.
Three research questions were raised and were directly answered.
The study was a descriptive survey research design which established the characteristics for the variable of the study. The population consist of chemistry teachers in private and public schools in Ikpoba Okha local government area with a sample size of forty teachers.The researcher designed a questionnaire which was used to gather data on the extent of use of ict in teaching chemistry in secondary schools.
The data collected with the questionnaire were analyzed using descriptive statistics of percentage used to analyze the other research questions.
The findings revealed among others that Technology enhances students understanding of chemistry concepts,chemistry experiments are more exciting for students when online simulations and virtual labs are used or involved.
