ABSTRACT

The research is conducted to investigate the impact of peer pressure on drug abuse among students at UNIBEN. This study aims to recommend a counselling intervention approach. The research will cover the prevalence of drug abuse, the influence of peer pressure, and the link between social acceptance and drug abuse. It will also examine the differences in drug abuse among students based on gender and societal views. The study's purpose is to understand the role of peer pressure in drug abuse among UNIBEN students. Five research questions were formulated and analyzed. The study included a population of 1410 students in 400 and 300 level, from eight (8) departments in the Faculty of Education. The instruments used were validated by three experts from the Department of Education Evaluation and Counselling Psychology in the Faculty of Education. The instrument's reliability was tested using Cronbach Alpha Reliability Coefficient, which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.810.
