ABSTRACT
This study aims to investigate the impact of parenting on children's academic performance through a cross sectional approach. The research was conducted by analyzing data from a sample of pupils in various educational institutions. The researcher focuses on some selected public and private kindergarten in Egor local government area of Edo State. To carry out this research five research questions were raised, The research methodology use in the course of this study is cross sectional research designs with questionnaire as the instrument of data collection and analysed using mean, standard deviation and correlation analysis. The reliability of the instrument was established using crombach alpha which yield a value of 0.83.The findings revealed significant relationships between certain aspects of parenting and children's academic success. The primary objective is to analyze the relationship between various aspects of parenting, including parental involvement, communication, discipline methods, and socio-economic background, and students' academic achievements in the local area. Recommendations derived from the study include encouraging positive parenting behaviors such as communication, support, monitoring, and involvement in children's education. The study suggest that parents should establish a nurturing and structured home environment conducive to learning, set high expectations for their children, and provide resources and opportunities for academic growth. Furthermore, collaboration between parents, teachers, and school administrators is recommended to ensure a holistic approach to supporting children's academic development.
