INTEGRATING BLENDED LEARNING IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF ACCOUNTING COURSES IN UNIVERSITIES IN EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

This study assessed integrating blended learning in the teaching and learning of accounting courses in universities in Edo state.Four research question were raised to guide the study. The study employed d a descriptive survey research design. The population for this study comprises of two hundred and thirty three 400 level business education student from the three universities that offer business education program in Edo state which are University of Benin, Benin City, Ambrose Ali University Ekopma and Benson Idahosa University, Benin City.The sample size of this study was made up of eighty six (86) final year Business education student; accounting option. The sample of this study is a disproportionate stratified sampling. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire (IBLITTALOACIUIES) and it was validated by the supervisor and two experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. Cronbach alpha statistics was employed to measure the level of consistency of items to give a coefficient of 0.844. The finding generally showed the possibilities of integrating blended learning in the teaching and learning of accounting courses in universities in Edo state . The research assessed the current state of awareness, availability of ICT facilities, student preferences, and the impact of trained personnel on the implementation of blended learning. Data was collected through questionnaires administered to students and educators. Findings indicate a growing awareness of blended learning benefits, yet limited ICT infrastructure poses challenges as well as lack of trained personnel.Despite this, students express a strong preference for blended learning. The study shows importance as it addresses pressing educational needs, informs policies and practices, improves learning outcomes, supports professional development, and advances knowledge in the teaching and learning of accounting courses in universities in Edo state.
