Abstract

In the course of this project, research was carried out on the present state, methods and practices of facility management in educational spaces, and classroom maintenance. The main goals of this project were to enhance facility management practices and optimize classroom maintenance within the university setting. By addressing the challenges associated with furniture repair and replacement, painting, air conditioning, and other maintenance issues, the aim was to improve the overall functionality, safety, and aesthetics of university classrooms. These tasks were carried out using the Post-Graduate Classes in the Department of Mechanical Engineering as a case study.

From the review of existing literature on facility management and maintenance in educational spaces, adopting a qualitative approach, this study was able to investigate the optimum selection of procedures, methods and materials in facility management and classroom maintenance. It integrated ergonomics considerations, time and cost constraints and available space in order to make decisions towards ensuring that the facilities in question were maintained at the best level possible in terms of quality and functionality. and that the useful life of the facilities were extended.
