ABSTRACT

Insecurity manifests through ethnic conflicts, organized crime, kidnappings, and politically motivated violence. Ethnic and communal clashes between the Igbo and other groups contribute to tension. Organized crime, including drug trafficking and human trafficking, fuels violence, while kidnappings for financial gain are common. Politically motivated violence during elections exacerbates distrust in institutions. Root causes include poverty, unemployment, psychological factors, and political instability. The government responds with increased security presence and community-driven initiatives. However, insecurity hampers economic development by reducing investment and disrupting activities. Addressing root causes through comprehensive measures, including investments in education and infrastructure, is crucial. Prioritizing political stability and reconciliation is necessary to build trust and confidence in institutions for a stable and prosperous future.
