ABSTRACT
This study examined information communication technology and students’ academic performance in public junior secondary schools in Akoko Edo local government area of Edo State. Five research questions were raised to guide the study. The study was descriptive employed purposive sampling method with a sample population of 24 Junior senior secondary school. A 13 items questionnaire validated by the supervisor and two lecturers using expert judgement approach was used for the study. The instrument was tested for reliability using split half method and analyzed using Pearson Product moment correlation statistic which gives a co-efficient of 0.70. Data collected were analyzed using means and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that: information and communication technology influence academic performance of secondary schools in Akoko-Edo local government area, Edo State. Information and communication technology influence student academic based on gender amongst others. It was recommended that gender sensitive ICT policy should be introduced into the Junior secondary school system and age compliant ICT facilities should be made available at the Junior secondary school level.
