ABSTRACT
The study is focused on the study of Information Communication Technology and the challenges of Public Service Delivery in Nigeria, a case Study of the University Of Benin. This study examines challenges faced in the delivery of the public service in the educational institution and how ICT can be a solution. Data was collected through the administration of the questionnaire numbering Sixty (60) of which fifty (50) were to student and ten (10) were to lecturers. The response from the return questionnaire forms the data for the research work. This data were analyze on the bases of simple percentages while the Chi – square were employed in the test of the hypothesis. The study reveals that the integration of ICT in educational sector will lead to massive improvement in its public service delivery. It was also discovered that government efforts to do this has been very minimal and implementation has been unsuccessful. The major conclusion is that Information Communication Technology is a solution to most of the challenges experienced in the educational sector and government needs to do better in implementation of already set policies regarding integration of ICT in public service delivery. The study recommends the formulation of plans and strategy to ensure implementation of former policies and also the setting up of new ones, Creation of a ministry aimed solely at ICT integration in public service delivery, and Inclusion of budget for the purchase of ICT infrastructural facilities and expenditures regarding its implementation.
