INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) UTILIZATION BY PRINCIPALS IN PUBLIC JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN EGOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE

ABSTRACT

The study examined information and communication technology utilization by principals’ in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To guide the study, four research questions were raised to guide the study, one research question was  answered directly while research question two, three and four were turned into hypotheses and tested at 0.05 level of significance.  

Descriptive survey research design expost facto was adopted for the study. The population of the study consisted of twelve principals and two hundred and twenty six (226) teachers as the respondent. A sample of 100 (99.44) respondent which was 44 percent of the total respondent was randomly selected. The research instrument used to gather data for the study was questionnaire titled: information and communication technology utilization by principal questionnaire (CTUPQ). Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistic (mean and standard deviation) and t-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance

The finding revealed the level of information and communication technology utilization by the principals in public junior secondary schools in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State was moderate and among others. It was therefore recommended that there should be adequate training and retraining of principals on effective use of information and communication technology through seminar, workshop and conference and among others.
