ABSTRACT

This study examines information and communication technological (ICT) service delivery in Edo State Civil Service. The study adopted the survey design on the basis of which data was sourced from a sample of 400 respondents. The data was analysed using percentage and chi-square statistical technique. The result shows that there is relationship between information and communication technological (ICT) as a tool and effective service delivery in Edo State civil service; there is relationship between information and communication technological (ICT) and acceleration of information dissemination in Edo State civil service; there is relationship between information and communication technological (ICT) and accountability in the civil service and there is relationship between information and communication technological (ICT) and improvement of better service delivery in Edo state civil service. The study recommends that more courses on ICT and its applications should be introduced into day to day activities of civil services. For civil servants to appreciate ICT better the government should subsidize the cost of computer and its accessories to enable the middle level students have access to a computer. Finally, the state government must do everything in their capacity to provide ICT facilities for student at little or no cost. There is no doubt employees training and development will be an incredible resource available to the institution, if there is good access to the Internet, organizing seminal and orientations for employees. The greatest challenge to the state and federal government is to ensure that budget cuts resulting from dwindling revenue and the need to satisfy other sectors of the economy do not adversely affect civil servants.
