ABSTRACT

The study investigated the influence of the teaching methods of human kinetics and sport science on academic achievement of junior secondary school students. Three research questions were raised.

The research design was the descriptive survey research design. The simple random sampling technique was used and a sample size of 150 which. The research instrument used for the study was a self-structured questionnaire. The test re-test reliability technique was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. The data was analyzed using descriptive frequency and simple percentage techniques. The result revealed that insufficient teaching methods may contribute to poor academic achievement among junior secondary school students.

It is therefore concluded that when appropriate measures and teaching methods are put in place there will be an improvement in the academic achievement among junior secondary school students.
