ABSTRACT
This chapter summarizes the findings of the research or facts established in the study of the Nigerian Civil War’s impact on the country’s diplomatic relations. The purpose of the research is to examine the ways in which the civil war impacted or affected the country's diplomatic relations. It aims to analyze how the conflict affected Nigeria's alliances, partnerships, and foreign policies. By understanding these dynamics, the research contributes to a deeper comprehension of the interplay between armed conflicts and diplomatic relations, providing insights for policymakers and scholars studying conflict resolution and post-war recovery. The Nigerian Civil War was a cataclysmic episode and a major landmark in the national development of Africa’s most populous state. The conflict imploded the nascent Nigerian state following irreconcilable differences between the Federal Military Government (FMG) of Nigeria headed by Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon and the legitimately aggrieved Eastern Region headed by Lt. Col. Emeka Ojukwu.
