ABSTRACT
This study was designed to examine the influence of the environment on the academic performance of Secondary School Students in English Language in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. Questionnaires were administered to one hundred students.
The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The simple random sampling technique was used. Also the test-retest reliability was used. The simple percentage was used in the presentation of data. The result from the presentation showed that the classroom size, location of the school, school facilities and parents socio-economic status and their educational background has a significant influence on the academic performance of students in English language.
Based on the findings of this work, it was recommended that there should be enough well ventilated classrooms, schools should be located in a suitable environment for learning, provision of adequate facilities for teaching English language in secondary schools should be made, parents should create time to ensure that they check their children academic progress.
