ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at assessing the influence of teaching practice on students’ career development in University of Benin, Benin City. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. Data was collected from one hundred and sixty (160) students randomly selected from 8 departments in the Faculty of Education. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using mean score and standard deviation.
The findings from the study include that teaching practice contribute to subject matter delivery among student-teachers in University of Benin, Benin City. It was concluded that teaching practice boost confidence in instructional effectiveness among student-teachers in University of Benin, Benin City.
Some of the recommendations made include that Government should provide finance in form of stipend for student-teachers during their engagement in teaching practice prgoramme. It was also recommended that school management should try as much as possible assist student-teachers with their cost of transportation to their allocated schools for teaching practice exercise.
