ABSTRACT

The study investigated the influence of teachers qualification on students academic performance in financial accounting. Three research questions was raised to guide the study. The descriptive  survey research  design was adopted for study.  The population of the study comprises of senior secondary schools in Udu LGA of Delta State The Sample random sampling procedures was used to select one hundred from four (4) selected schools to make up the sample for the study. A structured questionnaire titled: Influenced of Teachers Qualification on Academic Performance Questionnaire (TQAPQ) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by the researcher’s supervisor as well as two other experts in the department of vocational and Technical Education. Data was analyzed with mean and standard deviation. Decision rule is based on any calculated mean equal or greater than 2.5, is regarded as high extent while any calculated mean below 2.5 is regarded as low extent. The study concludes high level of Influence of teacher’s qualification on students academic performance in financial accounting, Based on the findings of the study it was concluded that

There is a significant relationship between teachers qualification and student academic performance in financial accounting.

The quality of an accounting teacher always produces quality students. It was also concluded that the lecture and discussion method of teaching are the best for teaching accounting, it allows students to express their opinions during lectures.High level of content knowledge and pedagogical skills by the teacher enables dynamic changes in students. Teachers training programs influence the teaching of accounting in senior secondary school.
