Abstract
This research explores the influence of social media on the academic performance of business education students within the University of Benin. Employing a descriptive survey methodology. The population of the study comprised two hundred and ten (210) Business Education students. The sample size of this study is made up to twenty (20) Business Education students. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire, validated by two experts in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. Cronbach alpha statistics was employed to measure the level of consistency of item to give a coefficient of 0.981 The study delves into the multifaceted nature of social media usage among these students. It seeks to understand not only the patterns of usage but also the intricate relationship between their engagement with social media platforms and their academic achievements. In the digital age, where social media has become an integral part of daily life, it is paramount to evaluate its impact on academic endeavors. This study provides insights into the perceived benefits and challenges of integrating social media into the learning process, shedding light on the potential advantages it offers and the hurdles it presents. As the academic landscape evolves, it is essential to consider strategies for harnessing the power of social media to enhance academic outcomes. By investigating this relationship, this research aims to furnish academic institutions with recommendations for effectively leveraging these online platforms to the benefit of students.
