ABSTRACT
The main objectives of this study was to investigate the influence of social media on the mobilization of youths for the new Nigeria. The study research adopted the uses and gratification theory and also the technological determinism theory. A crosssectional survey research method was also employed and questionnaire was used to get responses from respondents and these respondents were selected by using the accidental sampling technique. The collected data we are analyzed by using the descriptive statistics (Frequency and percentage) and the data was presented by using tables. The study finds out and concludes that's a majority of the respondents (54.4%) are males. Also, the majority of the respondents (98.9%) Claims that they make use of the social media .A majority of the respondents (57.8%) also agreed that they make use of social media very often. Equally, the analysis also showed that a majority of the respondents (86.7%) agreed that the social media has encouraged them to clamor for a new Nigeria. A large number of the respondents (60%) rated their response to social media messages that promote political mobilization for the new Nigeria to be high. Similarly, a sizable number of the respondents (16.7%) rated how intentional they are about using social media to fight for a new Nigeria to be very high. A majority of the respondents rated the influence of social media on the mobilization of youths in this dispensation as very high. Also, 52.2% of the respondents agreed that social media is a tool to increase growth and progress in Nigeria. Equally, a significant number of the respondents (38.8%) agreed that social media is a voice of the Nigerian youths. A majority of respondents77.7%) affirmed that the Internet has effectively amplified the voice of the Nigerian youths. The study also recommends that the social media is a great gain for this dispensation hence citizens should imbibe the responsible use of social media in order to effectively fight for the new Nigeria.
