ABSTRACT

The study investigated the influence of school environment on students’ discipline in public and private secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. Questionnaire was designed and used for data collection. The sample size for the study was made up of 100 respondents. The data collected were analyzed using frequency count and percentages to answer the research questions.

The findings from the study include that there is high extent to which school environment are conducive for teaching and learning in public and private secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. It was concluded that there a significant influence of school environment on students’ discipline in public and private secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State. The study recommended among others that Federal and state governments should pay more attention to adequate provision of more school buildings of additional classrooms and ensure the school buildings are in good condition.
