ABSTRACT
This study was design to examine the Influence of Religion on the Academic Performance of The Girl-Child in Junior Secondary School in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. To achieve this purpose the following research questions were put forward: Does the socio-economic background of parents affect the performance of female students?Does the religious status of the girl-child’s family affect her academic performance?Does the religion prevalent in the girl-child’s school affect her academic performance? Does her disposition as a girl affect the girl-child’s academic performance?
This study adopted the descriptive research design and the major instrument used for data collection was questionnaire. The questionnaire was validated and reliability was determined through test retest method. The data collected was presented in frequency count and percentage for all the three hundred (300) respondents randomly selected from seven thousand, six hundred and seventy two students (7672, excluding JSS3) in all private and public Junior Secondary School Students in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. This project is in five chapters, these includes Chapter one which is the introduction, Chapter two deals with the review of related literature, Chapter three is the methodology while Chapter four is the presentation of results and discussion of findings and Chapter five is the summary, conclusion and recommendations.
