ABSTRACT
This study investigates theinfluence of principals leadership styles in students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in Egor local government areathree (3) research questions were raised for the study. The study adopted survey research design. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire; it was built around the research question by the researcher and validated by the researcher’s supervisor. The findings of the study revealed that prevalent leadership style is more effectively; it further reveals that different leadership style positively affect overall teaching effectiveness in school and that there is a high relationship between leadership and teaching effectiveness
Educational authorities should prioritize leadership training and development programs for school principals. These programs should focus on promoting effective leadership styles such as Transformational and Democratic Leadership, which have been shown to positively impact teaching effectiveness and student outcomes. Encourage principals to adopt collaborative leadership approaches that involve teachers, students, and other stakeholders in decision-making processes. This can foster a sense of ownership and commitment among all stakeholders, ultimately enhancing the overall educational experience. Principals should be encouraged to adapt their leadership styles based on the specific needs and circumstances within their schools. Flexibility in leadership approach allows principals to address diverse challenges effectively and promote innovation in teaching and learning.
