ABSTARCT
This study determined the influence of practical training on the skills acquisition of business education students in Edo State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population comprises one hundred and sixteen (116) business education final year students in the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. The instrument for the study was a well-structured questionnaire. Four research questions were raised to guide this study. The instrument was validated by two experts in business education.
The reliability of the instrument was ensures by using Cronbach Alpha reliability computation which yielded a co-efficient index of 0.81. The findings of this study showed that communication skills influence the skills acquisition of business education students. The study also revealed that teamwork skills influence the skills acquisition of business education students. The study also revealed that leadership skills influence the skills acquisition of business education students. The study also revealed that digital literacy skills influence the skills acquisition of business education students.
The study recommended that communication skills training should be incorporated into the business education curriculum. It was also recommended that business education lecturers should encourage collaborative learning by assigning group projects and tasks that require students to work together to achieve a common goal. The study also recommended business education programme should offer leadership development programmes such as workshops or seminars to equip students with leadership skills. Business education programme should offer digital literacy training and workshops where students can develop their skills in practical training.
