ABSTRACT
This study investigated the Influence of Parenting Styles on the Behaviour of Primary School Pupils in Oredo Local Government Area. To this end, three research questions were generated and examined. The population of the study comprised all parents and teachers in Oredo Local Government Area. The sample for the study was 100 respondents comprising teachers and parents selected through convenience sampling using an online Google platform. The instrument for the study was in self structured questionnaire after review of previous literature. The instrument was validated by three experts in education. The reliability of the instrument was established using the split half method, which yield a value of 0.86. The data generated was analysed with mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that parenting style has influence on pupils behaviour and their behaviour towards studies. It further revealed that parenting style has impact on the behaviour of primary school pupils. Based on this finding it was recommended that teachers, educationists and leaders should create awareness in parents on the importance of parenting styles at home environment on academic achievement, which can improve the children’s performance.
