ABSTRACT This study investigated the influence of parental involvement in students’ learning in public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.. The study specifically ascertained the extent which parents involvement in students learning influences development of reading skills, co-curricular activities and academic performance among students, The population of this study consist of the fourteen (14) public secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State with a total of six thousand four hundred and forty three (6443) JSS III students. A sample size consisting of 100 (one hundred) students was used for this study. The sample for this study consist of four (4) Junior Secondary Schools and one hundred (100) JSSIII students randomly drawn from the public Junior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire developed by the researcher. Findings from the study revealed that parents involvement in students learning influence students development of reading skills, course work, co-curricular activities and academic performance of students in Public Junior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government of Edo State to a high extent. Based on the findings from the study, it was recommended that parents who are not involved in their children education should be constantly sensitized while those who are involved should be encouraged to continue doing so.
