ABSTRACT
The study set out to examine the Impact of Office Layout on Efficiency and Morale of Staff in Organizations on the global perspective. When a management decides to establish an office, it has to carefully define its plan for the office. The reason is that the systematic arrangement of office space, equipment, machines, furniture and accessories leads to availing maximum benefit from the space available. This is to enhance uninterrupted flow of work, collaboration and free movement of workers in the office. This has the benefit of improved morale and efficiency as well as increase productivity and motivation of staff. The office layout is based on the principle of division of labour. If the principle of labour is applied, every job of an office can be divided into many sections. All the sections may not be possible to be accommodated in a single room or in the same floor. Therefore, office layout ensures full utilization of office space and the efficiency of the operations is quite high. Office layout is the systematic arrangement of office equipment, machines and furniture and providing adequate space for regular performance of work with efficiency. Typically, the study emphasized that office layout groups people together based on the functions they perform. For instance, it might make sense to group employees who process invoices close to your accounting and purchases departments, so that these employees can consult with each other as the need arises. Specifically, the study would find out the relationship between types of offices enjoyed by banks worker in Benin City and their productivity; types of furniture provided for bank workers in Benin City and their collaboration in carrying their duties ; the design of the offices occupied by bank workers and their level of productivity in Benin City; the level of productivity of male and female bankers in Benin City. Four research questions were raised to guide the study thus: Is there any relationship between types of offices enjoyed by banks workers in Benin City and their productivity? Is there any relationship between the types of furniture provided for bank workers in Benin City and their collaboration in carrying out their duties to enhance productivity? Is there any relationship between the design of offices occupied by bank workers and their productivity in Benin City? What is the difference in the productivity of male and female bankers?
