ABSTRACT
This research work examined influence of Netflix entertainment on university students academic performance: A study of Benson Idahosa University students. The objectives of the study were to find the connection between academic performance and Netflix consumption habits, to investigate the impact of binge-watching behaviour of Netflix on students study habits, time management skills and overall academic productivity and to provide solutions and techniques to reduce the adverse impact and improve academic performance. The survey method was adopted for this. Purposive sampling technique was used to draw a simple size of 80 from the study population. Data were obtained with the use of questionnaire and analysed with simple percentages and tables. The findings revealed that though university students watch Netflix a lot, their academic performance are not influenced by Netflix entertainment to any extent, as they know how to balance their Netflix amusement and their academic tasks. The study recommends that students should watch Netflix only after completing task, set time limits for Netflix and that the university should provide resources and workshops on managing entertainment consumption for better academic performance.
