ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to determine the Influence of motivation on the student academic performance of Junior Secondary Schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. The aim of the Study was to determine the extent to which motivation affect student and ways to improve the motivation of students to enhance their academic performance. The survey research design was adopted for the study. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised. The sample size of fifty junior secondary school teachers from five juniorsecondary schools was used for the study. Data was collected with the aid of well-structured and valid questionnaire; the data collected were analyzed using simple percentages. The Findings showed that motivation affects the performance of student to a larger extent, that motivation affects the performance of students in school activities. It was also discovered that there are various ways by which teachers could motivate the student to enhance their academic performance. Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations were made on how students can be motivated to perform well in their academics. It was recommended that teacher should establish good relationship with the student etc.
