ABSTRACT
This research was designed to investigate the influence of motivation on productivity of Social Studies teachers in junior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The sample for this research work consists of one hundred (100) randomly selected respondents. The researcher adopted the simple random sampling technique in selecting the respondents. To guide this study, five research questions were raised and questionnaires were used to collect data and thereafter, analysis was carried out using simple percentage method.
Based on the analysis, the study revealed that motivation affects junior secondary school teachers’ productivity and job satisfaction. Teachers’ attitude to work was influenced by increase in their salary. In the light of the above, some recommendations were made: motivation of teachers’ should be considered as a major driving force by those in charge of implementation of educational policies so as to bring about needed performances on the part of students and for effective motivation of teachers, teachers salary and other remuneration should be paid adequately and promptly, also training of teachers periodically in further boost their performances in school should be given urgent attention as stipulated in National Policy on Education.
