ABSTRACT
The study investigated the influence of mothers’ education and children academic achievement on the UBE level in Benin Metropolis, Edo State. To achieve the purpose of the study, four research questions were raised and examined. The sample size for the study was made up of 20 students which were selected from 4 public junior secondary schools in Benin Metropolis, Edo State. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. An analysis of data was done using simple percentage and frequency count. The findings from the study include that there is a significant influence of mothers’ education on children’s participation in classroom activities in junior secondary schools in Benin Metropolis. It was concluded that there is a significant influence of mothers’ education on children’s academic achievement in junior secondary schools in Benin Metropolis. The study recommended among others that school counsellors and educational psychologists should employ diverse approaches to enlist greater mother’s involvement in the academic programmes of schools.
