ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of instructional materials in the teaching and learning of Christian Religious Studies in secondary schools in Uvwie Local government area, Delta state.

To guide the study, five research questions were raised, the questions are outlined as follows: out of these five questions 24 items were raised in the questionnaire to gather the data for this study and the questionnaire was subject to Spearman Brown method and reliability value of 0.73 was obtained. The data collated were analysed using the simple percentage and frequency counts.

The findings from the study revealed that the non-usage instructional aids during CRS class makes it difficult for Students to learn better, some students do not like C.R.S as a subject, the C.R.S teachers bring instructional materials to the class only at the beginning of the term, most of the schools don't have instructional materials at all. The government should make sure every school has instructional materials and make provision for them as well. Also, C.R.S teachers need to place importance in bringing instructional materials to the classroom.
