ABSTRACT
The aim of this study is to examine influence of information communication Technology (ICT) On Job Performance of Secretaries in Government Establishment in Edo State. To guide the study, four research questions were raised which are outlined thus: What are the availability of ICT resources to secretaries in Government establishment in Edo State? To what extent do secretaries use the available resources ice resources in Government establishment in Edo State? To what extent does ICT resources influence secretaries job performance? What are the problems associated with the use of information communication Technology (ICT) equipment by the secretaries in Edo State?
From these four research questions 25 items were raised in the questionnaire to gather the data for this study and the questionnaire was subject to a Cronbach alpha to test for the reliability and a reliability coefficient of 0.76 was obtained. The data collated were analyzed using the simple percentage and frequency counts.
The findings from the study include Majority of the sampled population agreed that availabilities of ICT resources influence secretaries job in Government establishment in Edo State. It is also seen that respondents’ agreed that secretarial duties are carried out with less supervision due to the influence of modern communication. It is clearly seen that majority of the sampled respondents agreed that the secretaries use the computer in filing the official documents the respondents agree that the secretaries use Electronic Mailing (E-mail) while the recommendation include the secretarial staff at MOE must constantly be trained to become their very best, the ministry should continually be investing in the acquisition of the latest equipment that would enhance the productivity of its staff.
